Tags Manager

The Tags Manager is where you can add and manage tags.

Tip

A tag is a label for data. In Arundo Enterprise, a tag can be one of the following:

  • Input or output for a machine learning model in a pipeline
  • Data source for a panel on a dashboard

Getting There

Access Arundo Fabric and select Tags on the Navigation bar.


Tags List

The Tags list displays details for the tags currently in use.

Use the keyword search and filters to locate specific tags.

Fields

The following information displays for each tag:

Field Description
Display Name Name assigned to the tag:
* For tags added in Arundo Edge, the name is assigned by Arundo Fabric and displays in <TAGID>-<DEVICEID> format
* For tags added in Arundo Fabric, the name is the user-defined name
Tag ID ID assigned to the tag by the industrial control system
Type Type of tag
Description Description of what data the tag collects
Streaming Streaming indicator green Tag is currently streaming
Streaming indicator blank Tag isn't streaming
Pipeline Pipeline indicator Tag is connected to a pipeline

Edit Tag Window

The Edit Tag window displays when you click a Display Name in the Tags list. Use the Edit Tag window to update a tag.

Tip

The ID is the universally unique identifier (UUID) assigned to the tag by Arundo Fabric.

Managing Tags

The following guides explain how to add and manage individual tags.

Adding a Tag

Complete the following to add a new tag to the Arundo Fabric database.

  1. Click + Create New Tag.
  2. In Name, enter a name for the tag.
  3. In Type, select a data type for the tag.
  4. In Description, enter a description of what the tag's data represents.
  5. (Optional) In Default Value, enter a default value to use for the tag.
  6. Click Create.
Editing a Tag

Complete the following to update an existing tag.

  1. Locate the tag in the Tags list.
  2. Click the Display Name.
  3. Click Edit Tag.
  4. Make changes.
  5. Click Edit.
Deleting a Tag

Complete the following to delete a tag and prevent its further use.

Warning

You can't delete a tag if it is connected to a pipeline or streaming data.

  1. Locate the tag in the Tags list.
  2. Select the checkbox next to the tag.
  3. Click Delete 1 tags at the top of the Tags list.
  4. Click Yes.

Managing Files

The Tags Manager gives you the ability to upload files to the Microsoft Azure cloud.

Tip

Files get stored in a specially created space in the Microsoft Azure cloud, unique to your Arundo tenant.

Use this feature to upload files for use in batch pipelines, or to store files safely for other purposes.

The following guides explain how to manage files uploaded to the Microsoft Azure cloud.

Setting Up Azure Storage Explorer

You must set up Azure Storage Explorer to access files uploaded to the Microsoft Azure cloud. Complete the following to set up Azure Storage Explorer.

  1. Open the Tags Manager.
  2. Click Access Files.
  3. Click the Copy button to copy the shared access signature URI.
  4. Open Azure Storage Explorer.
  5. In the Explorer pane, select Storage Accounts and then select Connect to Azure storage.

  6. Select Use a shared access signature URI and click Next.

  7. In URI, paste the shared access signature URI you copied in Step 3.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Connect.
Uploading a File

Complete the following to upload a file.

Warning

Files must be less than 100 MB in size.

  1. Access Arundo Fabric.
  2. Open the Tags Manager.
  3. Click Upload File.
  4. Locate and select the file.
  5. Click Save.
Viewing Uploaded Files

Complete the following to view the tag files that are currently uploaded to Arundo Fabric.

  1. Open Azure Storage Explorer.
  2. In the Explorer pane, expand Storage Accounts and then double-click fabric-files.

    The fabric-files tab opens with a list of tag files currently uploaded to Arundo Fabric.
